North Coast News


I hope by the time you are reading this the rains have finally stopped and the warm weather has arrived. With summer just around the corner there is a lot going on in the North Coast.

The Russian River Community Trust Fund of Community Foundation Sonoma County is accepting applications from non-profit organizations for projects serving communities along the western end of the Russian River. This includes all Russian River communities from Forestville west to the ocean (Forestville, Rio Nido, Guerneville, Monte Rio, Rio Vista, Duncan's Mills, Jenner).

The Trust will award grants for capital projects, equipment purchases or projects of a one-time nature. The maximum grant will be $5,000.Grant applications are due by July 15, 2010.

JENNER
Come celebrate the Summer Solstice in Jenner with an outdoor dance concert and BBQ featuring the foot stomping music of Miss Jane and the Mojo Monkeys. Saturday evening June 19th. Gates open at 6, music goes from 7 to 10 p.m. Beer, wine and dinners will be for sale. Tickets are $10 at the event. Jane is a fantastic singer songwriter who frequently performs with Caroline Casey and has played solo in Jenner many times. Come out see her with a HOT band and boogie in the summer at the Jenner Community Center! A benefit to restore the Jenner creek and fix the bridge to the firehouse. DUNCANS MILLS
Celebrate the Summer Solstice in Duncans Mills at the Sportsmen's Club. Sponsored by the Duncans Mills Merchant Association. There will be a fabulous Feast, great music, dancing and a Audacious Silent Auction. Tickets are $45.00 and are on sale in all the shops.

Ron Quercia of Quercia Gallery has a new show, "Beach Walk" The show runs from June 4th through June 28. There will be a opening reception on sunday June 6th, from 3-6pm. Soup and Song featuring Maya with west African drummer Kunda will be held June 20th from 6-8 p.m. call the gallery at 865-0243 for more information.

On June 13th from 2-6 p.m. The Russian River Sportsmen's Club in partnership with Monte Rio School will have their 1st Annual Family Fun BBQ Tickets are $25 with kids meals only $5.00 Part of the proceeds will benefit the Monte Rio School. For more information you can call the school at 865-2266. Speaking of the School their Graduation will be held June 9th

The Russian River Rodeo will once again be held in Duncans Mills June 5 & 6 The Cowboy Breakfast is from 7-am - noon with the events starting at 1:00 p.m. Tickets $12-adults, $7-seniors, $5-kids, $30-family pack. And last but not least the 20th Annual Redwood Invitational Golf Tournament benefiting Sutter VNA & Hospice will be held at Northwood Golf Course in Monte Rio Monday June 21st. Start time is 8 A.M. For more information you can call Tom Anti at 865-1897
