The Sonoma County Fair is Looking for Performers

Community Acts Wanted for Old-Style Variety Show

It only seems fitting that when planning the Sonoma County Fair's 75th Anniversary Celebration, the staff would look to the past. In addition to bringing back treasured past events and exhibits, the special events team has put together an old-style variety show to entertain fairgoers. The vaudeville show, named the Diamond Jubilee Review, features live music, magicians, ventriloquists and even Valentine's Performing Pigs, made famous on David Letterman, but they're looking for community participation too.


Community performers have an opportunity to try out for a spot in the Diamond Jubilee Review on June 24th and June 30th at 6:00 PM at the Fairgrounds. The Review will perform twice during weekdays and three times on the weekend in front of thousands of Fair visitors. If an act is selected they may perform on a single day during the Fair or across multiple days depending on the act and their availability. All acts will be paid a minimum of $100 per day to perform.

Auditions are open to any performer with a few caveats: the act should be between 5 and 10 minutes long, be able to be performed on a 12 by 15 foot stage, be rated "G" for family entertainment and may not be a band or instrumental group. Singers, dance groups, theater groups as well as solo performers are all encouraged to apply for an audition. The weirder and more wonderful, the better! Performers must be available at least one day during the Fair's run from July 27-August 14th. The Fair is closed on Mondays.
