Cazadero Community Column - December 2010

After a week of balmy weather, I am now watching the wood smoke curl up over the redwoods outside. I am in the “here comes the rain” mode!

School Fundraiser & Show
There are a lot of great activities at Montgomery Elementary School. Come to Raymond’s Bakery on Friday evening, Dec. 3rd for a MES and Ft. Ross School joint Pizza Night fundraiser for their spring overnight field trip to Pt. Bonita on the Marin headlands.

The Annual MES Holiday Show will be on Thursday, Dec. 16th at the Fire Hall. Winter break begins Dec. 20th and school resumes on Jan. 3rd, 2011.

Holidays in Cazadero
The recent Cazadero Holiday Crafts Faire was a lot of fun and I want to thank all of the sponsoring Cazadero Club members who helped out at this pleasant event. Pretty handcrafted items, yummy baked goods (yes, I got my annual banana cream pie) and tasty snacks. The next meeting of the Caz Club will be after their winter hiatus on Tuesday, March 8th, 7 p.m. also at the fire hall. Join your
neighbors in planning events which benefit the entire community.

The Cazadero Old Tyme Celebration will be in downtown Cazadero on Sat. December 11th. Please consult the Gazette’s Calendar for more Faire info.

Cazadero Has Talent

There will be an old-fashioned Christmas Candlelight service on Sunday, December, 16th at 6 p.m. at the Cazadero  Community Church. A variety of local talent in the form of a youth skit, chorale numbers, solos, duets and trios, guitar solo by Bob Mann and singing of Christmas carols. Enjoy sinfully delicious goodies! Bring your family and friends! You may call Twila for more info at 632-5865, cell 310-4343-9472.

Season of Light
The Russian River Jewish Community celebrates Chanukah, the Season of Light, on Friday, Dec. 3rd from 5:30 p.m. at the Senior Center on Armstrong Woods Rd. Please bring a potluck item to share and Chanukah menorahs and candles to light together. A small fee for non-members. Live music by Jubilee Klezmer Ensemble and fabulous potato latke feast! Please call 869-3273 for more info.

December Birthdays
Wishing Very Happy December birthdays to my dear friend poet laureate emeritus Mike Tuggle on Dec. 1st, with Heather Lough and Austin Bardsley also celebrating on that date. Mike Nicolls enjoys his birthday in Hawaii on Dec. 3rd, with Brittany Kelly turning 34 on Dec. 12th. Karen Lough has her day on Dec. 20, Daniel Kane will be 27 on the 25th, Katy King turns 26 on Dec. 27th, Justin Mosher-Ludy turns 31 on Dec. 30th and my amigo Stephen D. Gross of Rien’s Beach made his folks happy as a tax break on Dec. 31st.

I wish everyone a terrific and festive holiday time. Stay warm and call me at 632 5545 or email mayawrld@sonic.net with info for your Cazadero Column!
