Cazadero Communications - September 2011

It’s a lovely afternoon in the redwoods as I write this. The view from my airy cyber-hut shows large trees with a golden light!

Fun with Benefits
I hope that you are planning to attend the Sunday, September 4th Cazadero Old Tyme BBQ at the Performing Arts Camp! Delicious rib and chicken dinners, plus live music, games, famous raffle, pie contest and dessert table-YUM! Presale tickets at the Caz Store. All proceeds directly benefit your community! Organized by the Cazadero Community - come to the next meeting on Tuesday, September 6th;7 p.m. at the Firehall and help plan these events, including the upcoming Crafts Fair on Saturday, November 12th.

The weekly Community Market continues from 10-1 p.m. on Saturdays and do stroll to the nearby fabulous Sky Garden, which is maintained so well by Cathy Schezer, Bonnie Chase and many others!

Neighbors in Business
The Duncans Mills General Store has reopened with Cazadero owners Justine and Darrell Anderson - they also have some Raymond’s Bakery items and many terrific grocery and picnic offerings! Downtown Duncans Mills will have their Antique Fair on Labor Day weekend.

Jewish New Year
The Russian River Jewish Community will celebrate the Jewish New Year/Rosh HaShana of 5772 at 5 p.m. on Friday evening, September 23rd at Armstrong Woods. Open to all and featuring traditional readings, accompanied by the wonderful Jubilee Klezmer Ensemble and a terrific potluck! Bring your shofar, and a chair for a very special event. Please call 632 5545 for information.

Back to School
The Montgomery Elementary School is beginning the school year, so please look out for kids at the bus stops! Ms. Port’s K-2 class is beginning their Johnny Appleseed unit where everything - reading, math, science, art and more-is all about apples! The 3rd-5th graders will have an overnight living history trip to the Petaluma Adobe. School Board meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of each month and the public is welcome to attend.
