Rockin' Rio Nido

The "Friends of Rio Nido" (FRN) Cleanup Day:
July 9th proved to be a memorable day. The "Friends of Rio Nido" (FRN), formerly known as the Rio Nido Task Force through their Beautification Committee organized a neighborhood cleanup day from 8am to 12noon. The Committee leads and division members consisting of John Uniak, Jennifer Ostrom, Matt Malick and J, Larry Tocmakidis, Elena Chronis, Nate and Ingrid Emming, Marsee Henon, Adam Flaherty, Nancy Drew and local volunteers Fred Beeler, Johnny Etheridge, Troy Held, Vic and Randy Sue Watson all joined forces to make this a successful event to remember. While some members walked from Canyon to Canyon picking up garbage bags full of debris, others drove their trucks from Canyon to Canyon door to door asking neighbors if they needed assistance having their debris hauled away from their homes as well as nearby culverts.

The lineup of vehicles was constant and the day went off without a hitch. While some members assisted with handing out literature in regards to the "Friends of Rio Nido" and other various and much needed helpful programs for the residents of the community, others assisted with directing drivers to the proper hauling bins. Thank you Donna Caldwell from the Sonoma County Dept. of Transportation and Public Works for making this possible and North Bay Corporation for their accomodating attitude and manpower. A special thanks to Danny Drew for keeping the traffic moving along smoothly. A big shout out to Doug Misner, President of the RNHOA for assisting us with the logistics of this event as well as lending his muscles to breakup all that concrete. Go Doug! Go Doug! What a hard working, energetic bunch of big-hearted, generous Rio Nidans. Impressive and appreciated.

Rock n' Roll "Friends of Rio Nido", Rock n' Roll!

On the Move:
Local residents Joe Ford, Rebecca Taylor and Eli Ford have moved on out of Rio Nido. We are sad to see a nice, young family leave our little enclave but thrilled for them in their new digs in sunny Bennett Valley. Chloe Taylor Ford, Joe and Rebecca's Great Dane was a well known pooch at the dog park. Often seen galloping from her home to the dog park full of excitement to play with all her furry friends.  On a cheerful note, close friends and wonderful new neighbors Nancy, Michael and Danny Drew have moved into Joe and Rebecca's former digs and are enjoying all that Rio Nido has to offer. Best of all, Sasha their energetic german shepard is having the time of her life.

Rio Nido Art Festival and Pancake Breakfast August 7th:
Please join us for the Art festival featuring over 20 local artists from 10am-3pm in the RNHOA's picnic grounds area. Shop local and support your community.

The RNHOA's pancake breakfast is from 9am-12 noon. Stop in for some yummy pancakes, coffee and amusing conversation. Don't forget to take the wee itty bitty kiddies to Pee Wee Mini Golf this summer from 6pm-on Fridays and Saturdays.

Pet of the Month - Chloe Taylor-Ford:
Chloe came to live with the Taylor-Ford family in January of '09 when she was adopted from a Vacaville shelter. She is approx. 5-6 years old. Being white with blue eyes Chloe needs to wear sun block to protect her pink nose.  She is great with children and in her mind she is a teacup chihuahua. Chloe now has over one acre of sunny country land to run on and chase animals. Her favorite past times include: playing in the dog park with her best pal dane-pit cross Stella, kitchen counter surfing and stretching out on the couch/bed. She plans to come back soon and visit the dog park to catch up with old friends and enjoy some shade.

Farewell for now Chloe, but see you soon!

Chloe Taylor-Ford
